In 1959, Prima ballerina Alicia Alonso founded the Cuban National Ballet following Fidel Castro’s revolution.
I am a dancer-meaning, I live for expressing emotion through movement and music (even if it's only in my head). My mother and her mother, and my daughter, are/were all dancers. I am also a scholar, and artist, a poet, a writer, a photographer, and a dreamer. I like talking a lot, too. Life should start with teaching our children as much about expressing oneself as one can, in as many ways, using as many tools, and in as many languages as possible. With the ability to express oneself, comes the responsibility of speaking clearly, enunciating, articulating, conveying, showing, demonstrating, and sharing what one is trying to communicate to others by practice, with the purpose of discovering truths about the world we lives in, and making what we have learned relevant-passing it on. Of course, only time will tell if we truly have something unique to say, helped any people understand the world better, or entertained anyone at all. In the meantime, we are trying to day more and become a better communicator, and blogs have a journal aspect to them, so they can be expected to have a personal slant. Mine are definitely opinionated, openly so, and one of my goals it to try to say effectively, and honestly what I think or feel keeping in mind my own ethics, as I am aware other people might read it. Minds change everyday, and feelings do too. Outside experiences shape us, and it is terrible not to write because you might worry that you would offend someone, just as it would be terrible not to dance because you want to lose weight, first.
